Ballet-Basics and Ballet-Clipart
One of the most amazing things about classical ballet is that if you have been attending a class, you can go anywhere in the world and take a class because the language and the structure is almost always the same: From tendue to arabesque, the French glossary of terms is used with a fairly standard sequence of movements. This does help the dancer concentrate on perfecting the steps and body lines and soar to new heights with practice. Here is a simplified version of what to expect in a Class: A student is asked to repeat slow moving positions at the barre, which develop methodically as the arm and leg positions change direction more and more quickly. Then there is a series of kicks (battements) and stretches. Next the student is directed to the middle of the floor to dance combinations of movements that have been presented. Finally she dances across the floor with variety of leaps and turns. The class closes with a warm down called an adagio. Sounds easy. Well not exactly Ballet is a very demanding form of dance which requires much discipline. Everything from your fingers to your hair is very controlled and requires preparation. You do not need to be a prima ballerina to experience the rich rewards of the dance form though: Ballet instills confidence in the the body and and a sense of discipline. Even with a minimal practice a student learns much about how to be in one's body- developing grace and ease of walking and holding public presence. CHECK BACK SOON FOR YOUR FREE BALLET CLIPART!
