Dance-On founder and Yoga therapist, LesLee Ames,
started dance at the age of 3. "As soon as the smallest size shoes would
fit my mom sent me to dance class.....1 hour of tap, ballet and
tumbling....Little did I know that I would be given the tools not only to keep
my body fit, but provide me with the opportunities of a lifetime." The
belief is that people can identify and express their emotions, bringing those
feelings to the surface, which creates a sense of renewal and wholeness.
And the benefits of dance as fitness and even therapy
are being more widely
researched and reported. People are looking for alternative ways to
burn calories and relieve stress! Classes are filled with individuals
who enjoy dance or want to try. This can make the experience more fun and
fulfilling and keep a person on track in an exercise plan. You can dance and
make friends too.
A 2003 study by the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine validates the fact that dancing has the ability to increase blood
flow to the brain-lowering the risk of dementia and also decreasing stress
and depression with its social aspects!
